A litigation flag can't tell you who won.

Two claims can look identical on a credit register: same category, same firm, same red flag. One was struck out before trial. The other was fought and dismissed on the merits. UK Register Monitor reads the judgment — built for professional indemnity and D&O underwriters who price the difference, not the headline.

The gap

The same flag, two different risks

Both cases below appear identically on a standard credit or litigation register: "professional negligence claim — [firm]." Read in full, they're not the same risk at all. This is real classifier output, run against real judgments.

Finnan v Charles Russell Speechlys LLP

[2026] EWHC 1940 (Ch)

Standard register

professional negligence claim — Charles Russell Speechlys LLP

UK Register Monitor

struck out — abuse of process

The court struck out the claim as an abuse of process and also found it time-barred, with an extended civil restraint order issued.

Fassone v Hugh James (A Firm)

[2026] EWHC 364 (KB)

Standard register

professional negligence claim — Hugh James

UK Register Monitor

dismissed — no breach found

The court dismissed the claim, finding no breach of duty by the defendant solicitors on any of the alleged grounds.

Neither firm is the risk a bare flag implies — and a register that stops at "claim exists" can't tell you when it's the other way round either.

The pipeline

How it works

01 / Watchlist

Name the firms

You name the firms and individuals you underwrite or renew cover for.

02 / Search

Cross-check the record

Each entry is checked against Companies House for status changes and Find Case Law for new judgments naming them as a defendant — not just any mention.

03 / Read

Classify the substance

Any judgment found is read in full and classified by what actually happened: struck out, a live dispute, a liability finding, or dismissed on the merits.
